Sperno59 takes its name from sperno – a Latin verb meaning “to remove” – a reference to its removal of the right Shift key. In its place, the board sports an exploded arrow cluster with plenty of room to breathe and a clean, stepped corner on its face, all while still retaining its compact 60% layout.
Sperno59 features an anodized aluminum case with an optional brass bottom, and is available in a variety of colours – blue, red, black, silver. For its expense, the brass bottom is heavier and presents an overall higher quality sound profile than the aluminum bottom without the use of the included case foam, but the aluminum bottom still sounds great with the case foam in, and is colour-matched to the top case for the all-alu look.
Internally, the Sperno59 is gasket-mounted, featuring an aluminum plate with many flex-cuts that add significantly to the bounce felt while typing, as well your choice of solderable or hotswap PCB. Additional PCBs and plates of alternate material are available for separate purchase.
